So after many seasons of Wildcat blogging, in depth reports and analysis of a fictional team. The blogger suspension killed my momentum, to make matters worse, I was playing a national championship game when the power went out! Screw job #2.

I am purchasing a gamebridge
So that I can start getting screen caputures and yes video captures (that I will set to awesome music), of my dynasty that is likely going to be SMU next.

So after almost five days of being locked out of this blog that brings in literally 1 reader a day. I'm pretty upset.

My season has progressed, I'm 2 games away from another National Title Appearance, Abdullah has made a Heisman run, he's now #1, Selmon has blossomed, and Nakfoor kicked a 62 yard field goal. In other words, short of the armageddon, so much has happened.

I think that this has psuhed me over the edge and after my Arizona season is over, this blog will be transfered to WORDPRESS. Where I am looking for a new name, here are the options:

The game was nuts, Abdullah sets school records for Recieving yards in a season, a game, TDs in a season, in a game. Selmon throws for 400 yards and 8 TDs, no picks, rushes for 83....

Arizona demolishing the Pac Ten, Cal and WSU fall in blowouts

Arizona demolished Wazzu and Cal in back to back games, beating both teams by over 40 points. This team is looking like a bunch of superstars, they are considering playing Arizona's 1900 squad (pictured) for the 4th quarter in all pac ten games with teams not named USC or ASU...

So now that Arizona smoked those two teams, they have to play #5 USC (in LA) and #6 VA Tech (In Blacksburg) IN BACK TO BACK WEEKS! Talk about a test...if Arizona can eek out these games, they don't play any more ranked opponents the rest of the year and can pretty much guarantee a spot in the national championship game. But these two games will be a challenge....

Justin Abdullah was mentioned in ESPN Magazine as a Heisman hopeful (but he didn't make the list, what?)

Arizona, stonger than last year? Beats Notre Dame 60-0

South Bend, IN - The Arizona Wildcats absolutely crushed the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Saturday 60-0 and some are saying this Arizona team, led by Redshirt Freshman Josh Selmon could be better than last year.

The game was nuts, in addition to huge games from Selmon and Abdullah, the Beverly Hills punter had a huge impact. He punted twice where the ball was downed at the 2 yard line, and an agressive Arizona defense tackled Notre Dame players for safeties. Two SAFETIES IN ONE GAME! Both because of punting! The lesson: Recruit Punters....

After another huge game, Justin Abdullah found himself as a Heisman contender, but Arizona's 2 Bye weeks following the game had him drop from the running.

The Cats are back on against Cal this week.

Coach Stoops: Vindictive, Arizona beats NMSU 56-20

Tucson, AZ - After the debacle with Hal Mumme and his racist policies at NMSU, Arizona WR Justin Abdullah and K Marcel Nakfoor demanded that they schedule the Aggies, and Christian Lander, the Athletic Director, agreed.

Well, Arizona played and played big. Justin Abdullah had over 200 yards, Marcel Nakfoor kicked a 51 yard field goal that would have been good from 70, and Xavier Smith (recently converted after a summer in Jail) ran for 150 yards and 4 TDs.

But Stoops vindictiveness goes much further. After convincing Tyler Lyons (pictured) not to transfer to Air Force, he let him start the season in spite of Redshirt Freshman Josh Selmon (an Elite 11 QB from Texas), and Sophmore Tyler Andrews having great springs. Well, Tyler Lyons came in, and threw a pick on his first pass. He was promptly benched and Selmon played the rest of the game, passing for 324 yards and looking great.

"He's not playing another down this year," said Stoops of Selmon. "You want to transfer out of Arizona? Big mistake, now he'll spend the whole year on the bench. If he can make it through. The only way he plays is if Selmon and Andrews get hurt, even then I'll pull Dane Wright's redshirt before I let him play."

Dane Wright, the QB from Texas, is a freshman with 82 speed and many are predicting he will be the starter next year as a Redshirt Freshman, no matter how well Josh Selmon plays...

Arizona crushes #2 Louisville 45-7 for first ever national title

Miami, FL - They did it! Arizona did it. They finally get a football national championship to raise on Campus.

The game was a complete domination, in the pouring rain of a Miami January, Willie Tuitama stayed calm and collected and guided the balanaced Wildcats to a national title. Xavier Smith had a huge game, and the defense completely shut down Heisman trophy winner Scott Long, holding him to 1 catch for 7 yards.

Willie Tuitama walks away as the All Time Leader in passing yards, and passing TDs at the University.

Other noteworthy season wrap ups:

The Wildcats are going to lose a lot this year, and it will be tough for them next year, but coach Stoops has resigned and has last year's amazing draft class ready to go.

Miami, FL - The Arizona Wildcats and Louisville Cardinals will play for the national title....in football. Rick Pitino and Lute Olsen will be watching, but this is a shocker to everyone.

The game will be played in Miami, which is too bad, because if it was in Glendale, Arizona peeps would just sell that shit out.

Tucson, AZ - The Arizona Wildcats put the cap on their perfect season by beating the rival Sun Devils 52-35 at home. The game was much closer than the score would show, as Arizona State sliced through the UofA defense, the real difference maker was turnovers. Arizona forced 2 interceptions and returned a fumble for a touchdown.

Also Xavier Smith saved his best for next to last by rushing for 185 yards on 19 carries with 3 TDs.

Arizona has clinched their first Pac Ten title, and in other News Florida Atlantic Beat Northwestern to finish 11-0! Alabama plays Tennessee for the SEC title, Miami plays Maryland for the ACC title...and Louisville beat Louisana Tech to finish 12-0 and shut out of the BCS Title match....many in the south are annoyed that Louisville and possibly Alabama have been shut out of national title talk..

Arizona 34, Oregon 7 - Wildcats #2 in polls, #1 in BCS

Eugene, OR - The Arizona Wildcats have clinched the Pac Ten for the first time in school history! They beat Oregon 34-7 on Saturday in a game that had upset written all over it. In the first half, Oregon moved the ball extremely well, and completely shut down Arizona's passing attack...but late in the 2nd quarter, Brandon Tatum picked off a pass and returned it for a TD. Arizona never looked back.

AJ Simmons set the Wildcats school record with five, FIVE, sacks all coming in the second half, including three in one memorable series.

The game was so good that Arizona got their first ever ESPN The Magazine Cover...hoorah...

Now we move on to the national stage.

#1 Miami (12-0) Beat Virginia, only have to play the ACC championship game
#2 Arizona (11-0), has to play ASU, no championship game. Thankfully a tough non conference schedule should save them.

Tucson, AZ - The Wildcats march to a potential national title continued today with a big victory over Cal. The Wildcats have not lost to the Golden Bears under Coach Stoops, and today was no exception.

Xavier Smith ran for over 200 yards against Cal's amazingly weak run defense. But Arizona's defense was absolutley stifling, and it looks like it might be the defense which is the last piece of the national championship puzzle. It's all about Tuitama, Abdullah, Nakfoor, Xavier Smith and the Defense....

A google search for Nakfoor turned up this girl, who goes to Kennesaw, but she's probably transferring to Arizona to be with her brother....or join.

Duluth, GA is located near a golf course, it is one of the countless, endless, bland suburbs of Atlanta. The city has an average income of $64,000, it's fairly diverse with only 64% white majority...
he probably went to high school here which would explain why he wants to be a Wildcat ("I ain't got time to learn a new team name")...holy crap, the high school team has their own website. and they have a booster club. So it looks like Duluth has a lot going on as a city, I bet the IHOP is outta control on Friday morning with discussion of how the 16 year old boys will play.

Pullman, WA - Arizona continues to roll along, with their 9th win of the season. This game was not close. Arizona was up 14-0 before the end of the first minute.

The Wildcats defense forced SIX interceptions. It's been nuts. Then again, Washington State was ranked 102nd going into this game.

On the national Scene:
Arizona is ranked #3 in the polls and the BCS. They desperately need Miami and/or Texas to lose a game. The real danger is that heading into Week 13, the glut of undefeated teams is large:

Arizona Stays unbeaten, downs Oregon State 33-7

Tucson, AZ - In a crazy game with 8 picks and 10 sacks, the defense ruled the day. Fortunately for the Wildcats, they had the better defense. The Holy Triumvirate of Tuitama, Justin Abdullah and Marcel Nakfoor all had an off day, but Arizona held strong.

After the game, Abdullah and Nakfoor said they played poorly because they were too busy thinking about their brothers in New Mexico.

RECRUITING UPDATE

The Oregon State game was big because of the recruits in attendance. The Wildcats performance was so strong, they nabbed two more commitments.

1. Dane Wright, QB, #1 in the Nation, 6'1", 204 lbs, 4.46 40, A+ Arm Strength and Field Awareness
Woodway, TX

Woodway is an intersting place, if you check the city website, you can see that they hand out Yard of the Month Awards, and it's near Waco. Both good signs. A quick look to the demographics shows that this "master planned community", shockingly, is 91.3% white, and only 2.2% black, which means Dane Wright must have stood out a bit at his high school. Which, since Woodway has no high schools, is actually located in Waco, TX. Woodway's average income os $88,000 per year, which is almost three times that of Dumbarton, VA, where Joel Little, my RB is from.

He will be happy at Arizona, he did turn down the chance to go to Baylor, after all. But congratulations on getting out of the master planned community.

From Hacienda Heights, CA
Amazingly, this spot from the inland empire has even less black people than Woodway, Texas. Hacienda Heights represents Asians to the fullest, 36% of the population. Powell had to say good bye to Midori, his high school sweetheart, and move on to better things.

He went to Los Altos High School and was a star at football, lacrosse, swimming, ping pong, and badminton.

He thought about going to USC, but realized, they are jerks.

Palo Alto, CA - for perhaps the only night of their lives, it will be better to a student at the UofA than Stanford. Arizona demolished the Indians...oh wait, Cardinal...

Tuitama didn't play the 2nd half, and Arizona cruised...including 2 TDs for Michael Turner on Defense, big ups...

Now it's time for the Arizona RECRUITING REPORT!!! YEAAAHHH

1. Joel Little, Dumbarton, VA
5'11", 200 lbs, #1 RB overall.

Coming from a town that's only 6% with a graduate degree, and a median income of $33,000, football was his ticket out. Then again, only 7500 people live there. He is straight country. He played hard in high school, wanting to escape the life of his father, a farmer, and his mother, a community college professor of English. His potential is poor, his discipline is good though, instilled from his father. H came to the UofA for the hoes and the football. He has A- hands and runs the 40 in 4.39...he's gonna be a Wildcat star, and he never has to go back to Dumbarton.

Arizona is #4 in the nation, and recieved 1 vote for first in the coaches Poll - probably Phil Fulmer. They are #4 in the Media poll with one vote - it was Damien Cox. #3 in the BCS, praying for a Miami or a Texas loss.

Will update with more recruits as they commit, 3 visits coming up this week.

UCLA goes down, Arizona climbs to #3 in BCS

Pasadena, CA - The Arizona Wildcats downed the UCLA Bruins yesterday in a game that was close all the way into the fourth quarter. The Wildcats had a great running game, but the defense really carried the day against Ben Olsen, a definite pro mormon prospect.

The Wildcats are now ranked #6 in the nation, but more impressively, they are #3 in the BCS rankings behind Virginia Tech and West Virginia. The difficult part of the schedule seems to be over for the Wildcats, although games against cursed Oregon, ranked Cal, and Ranked Arizona State all loom.

In other news, the Wildcats picked up a commit from a HB from Dumbarton, VA this week, the #1 HB in the country. This is big, because after Xavier Smith and Derke Robinson, there was no one in the pipeline.

This could be the year, and honestly, it is actually frightening to play each game. I can't imagine how tough it is for real players, it feels so hard to go undefeated...if I lose now, the whole season is the crapper - in terms of National Championships, but an at-large bid or a Pac ten title will still mean the world to the Arizona Fans

Tucson, AZ - Arizona finally breaks that Pacific Northwest screw job streak. Of course, Arizona continued to mysteriously fumble when ahead of an opponent. Interesting.

This game was not about Xavier Smith who really struggled to hold onto the ball and break off any big runs. This game belonged to Willie Tuitama and Washington's amazing luck (100 yard endzone touchdown return, fumble touchdown return)...

Tuitama was 28 of 32 for 433 yards and 3 TDs with 1 INT. It was by far his best game ever.

It is also awesome because Washington was undefeated going into this game.

The Wildcats had a recruit in the stands who can only be impressed by what he saw.

The Washington after game party (pictured) planned for Arizona's campus was attended by none, and rowdy Wildcat fans threw out the tables, drank the beer, and cleaned everything up into a dump truck that they sent off to Seattle. Taylor from Laguna Beach said "whooooo, Washington sucks! Coronado forever!!!! YEEEAHHH, I miss you Talan!"

Arizona climbs to #6

Tucson, AZ - Since two games were played so close together there aren't a ton of details.

Game 1: Justin Abdullah continues his big play season, but hauling in over 100 yards again as Arizona cruises to a 38-21 victory. Xavier Smith ran for 100 and had over 80 recieving yards. Mike Thomas continues to be electric on returns, almost bringing one back all the way.

USC - this was the big one. Finally, after losing for years, could Arizona do it? The answer was yes, the game was insanely close, with USC getting the lead 41-38 in the 4th quarter thanks to a ridiculous set of Arizona fumbles - oh what? 4 fourth quarter fumbles, 2 brought back for touchdowns and one at the goal line? normal right?

But Mike Thomas brought a pass down at the 20 yard line, and Tuitama fired a pass into William Perry for the game winner.

The 'Cats are now #6 in the nation with challenges coming against Cal and Arizona State...this might be the year...

My question today is about when it's ok to turn off a game in frustration and nullify the results. Some would say that it's never ok, while others think that certain conditions (very unrealistic ones) warrant an acceptable pushing of the power button.

Last night, I tried to play against the Minnesota Golden Gophers, and the game was pretty close during the first and second quarters. By the third quarter, my WR Mike Thomas had fumbled three times, twice after making catches and once on a kick off. All three times, the fumbles were recovered by Minnesota, who themselves had fumbled twice, recovering both times. I said this was enough and turned it off in frustration.

Now mind you, I have played out games against USC and LSU that I've lost by over 40 points, and a bowl game blowout against Pitt. I don't have a problem taking losses, but it's these ridiculous situations that ruin a game. Some games where Willie Tuitama was picked off six or seven times, seemed a little unrealistic, especially as I watched opposing passes bounce off the chests and helmets of my DBs.

Sometimes Myles breaks out pennants, but it raises a good question. Can we put forth a set of rules (Expandable) about when it's ok to quit:
1. Unrealistic Turnovers - too many picks, non stop fumbles (when it's not raining or snowing)

Times when it's not ok:
1. QB is passing well
2. you can't run the ball
3. you are getting blown out
4. Injuries, no matter how heartbreaking

What else belongs in this ethical list?

The Greatest Game I've ever Played, Arizona Wins 17-14 over Tennessee

Knoxville, TN - WOW. That's what the commentators said, and though EA only ranked it as the #2 greatest game of all time, this was by far the best one I've ever played.

The entire game was a defensive struggle with the score nested at 7-7 going into the fourt quarter. With under three minutes, Tennessee QB Jonathan Crompton led his team t oa touchdown and a 14-7 lead. That meant that Arizona, who was struggling to move the ball on offense would have to drive for a touchdown to force overtime.

Willie Tuitama is a superstar, after completing a pass to a wide open Justin Abdullah, the freshman from Shaker Heights, he lined up at the Tennessee 30, noticing that the Vols were throwing 8 in the box, he audibled Mike Thomas to run a fly pattern. He snapped the ball and threw a perfect arching spiral into his hands for the touchdown. Game tied 14-14.

On the ensuing drive, Crompton was perfect, hitting reciever after reciever until he reached the Arizona 40 yard line. It was too far to run out the clock and go for a field goal, so he had to pass. Unfortunately for him, he throw long, in the direction of Devin Ross who nabbed his second pick of the day.

With only 38 seconds on the clock, it looked like they were playing for overtime. But you don't play for OT on the road, especially not at Tennessee. Tuitama dropped back and fired a long bomb to Abdullah again, who pulled in a SPECTACULAR one handed catch by the sidelines. It wsa not to believed, so much so that they booth reviewed the play and it stood. This might be the play of the year in all of college football, and certainly for the Wildcats.

Tuitama dropped back again, and found Mike McCoy, a sophmore over the middle to bring it to the Tennesee 17 yard line. The coach let the clock run down to 2 seconds, called a timeout and sent in Freshman Kicker and #1 Recruit in the nation Marcel Nakfoor (raised in Illinois, but born in Morrocco) to win the game. This kid had just finished playing a zero pressure game against Missouri State, and here he is in front of over 106,000 people kicking for the win and Arizona's season.

C'est ne pas une problem pour le kickeur, he kicked it through, time expired, Arizona wins 17-14 over the #19 Volunteers.

This could be a magical season.

Arizona squeaks by Missouri State 94-7

TUCSON, AZ - Arizona Beat Missouri State 94-7 on Saturday. The score might have been closer if Mike Thomas didn't return 4 punts for touchdowns, and Phil Oliver another.

Willie Tuitama went 3/4, and Xavier Smith only rushed 7 times. But Arizona just couldn't stop scoring.

The rest of the non conference schedule will be tough as they face #19 Tennessee on the road, and then #25 Minnesota comes to town on 27th.

But this game against Missouri State has a lot of people thinking Arizona's #13 ranking is justified and that after 2 full seasons, one bowl victory and a few great recruiting classes, this team has a shot.

Ok, so The West Virginia Mountaineers beat USC for the national title, Chris Peters beats Schiavone, although Chris Peters went/goes to WVU, Schiavone just dreams...still...

Heisman went to Derron Thomas from Miami - garbage. But fortunately Arizona State WR's didn't win any Heisman...

Arizona got shafted on the All-Americans and the All Pac-Ten selections. Louis Holmes was 1st team all Pac Ten, and a second team All-American. So he bounced to the NFL along wtih SS Michael Klyce. Which stinks.

Arizona recruiting went well, I'm at work so I can't give full details of names but some highlights include:
pulling in the #1 player in the nation......a KICKER! Seriously, the #1 recruit was a kicker, and he chose Arizona because graduation opened a starting spot, and Arizona has won 2 straight Groza awards, they will probably win the next four. This guy is sick.

Arizona got a transfer from Texas

they also needed safeties and pulled in the #1 SS in the nation from Sedona, AZ - he's black, which raises a LOT of questions. Sedona is a rich white vacation spot, I didn't even think they had a high school. It snows there.

Arizona had a top ten class (#8).

Fullback William Perry who scored 3 times last year, has been shifted to TE to make up for some graduation and holes at the position. He is 6'5" 315 lbs, with 72 speed. He is going to be a MONSTER - he's a sophmore! holy crap.

Two a Days is on now, Myles hates me because I get to watch it first. It's awesome, following around a bunch of spoiled suburban Alabamians, sick. All the guys have the same haircut, it's all long and would hangdown over their eyes, but they sweep it to the side.

Ridiculous....Jess and I were talking about the show and thought it would be awesome if they did a seperate show that followed the Goths in the high school. To show students who hate football, actually want to learn, and hate athletes getting special priviledges...

Stoops gets first bowl victory over Weiss 19-14

Phoenix, AZ - The Perpetually overrated Notre Dame Fighting Irish lost a nailbiter in the Insight.com bowl.

Tuitama was near flawless again, and Arizona's defense came up huge.

The only problem was that Arizona made 4 red zone trips and got 3 field goals. Good thing they had Groza winner Nate McQuown kicking the ball.

It was a great send off for such prominent seniors as Antoine Cason - a surefire NFL 1st rounder, Chris Henry - late rounder, Dane Krogstad - Canada, and Byron Dennard - Denny's waiter, and of course Nate McQuown, the converted punter who likely find himself kicking on Sundays next year.

Being from Faribault, I'm guessing he was the only guy with Cornrows...oh, and the only black guy...although there are rumors that he was a SICK Right Winger...but don't let that get out, he's trying to get a record deal.

These two mean that the UofA should get 2 STAR WRs for the next three years (at least)...a huge part of Coach Stoops plan for success.

ASU stunned 52-13 by UofA!!!!

Tempe, AZ - The Arizona Wildcats dominated the ASU Sun Sundevils 52-13 to win the Territorial Cup. The game was close for most of the 1st half, but Arizona completed pulled away in the 3rd quarter, so much so that star QB Willie Tuitama didn't take a snap in the 4th quarter. Tuitama was as close to perfect as he's ever been, going 11-13 for 227 yards and a touchdown.

Chris Henry carried 15 times for 121 yards and 2 TDs, William Perry the freshman FB with the fortunate name scored twice on three goal line carries.

But Mike Thomas , the Junior WR was spectacular. Hauling in 5 catches for 165 yards, outshining Arizona State's pair of Heisman finalist WRs. Thomas also returned a kickoff for a touchdown, and a second kickoff all the way down to the ASU 15 yard line. He was possessed.

Zach Miller played like a bitch. 3 catches for 41 yards, but the play of the game was when he went up to make a one handed catch and got clobbered by Dane Krogstad causing him to drop the ball.

The Wildcats even blocked an extra point.

Head Coach Mike Stoops said "it's so satisifying because these guys are jerks. And we ruined their season, they were headed to a BCS game, now if they're lucky, they'll play in the International Bowl in Toronto. Dicks."

Arizona dominates the Beavers 38-3, #1 Arizona State loses to #3 USC

Corvallis, OR - The Wildcats cruised to an easy 38-3 victory over the Oregon State Beavers in a game that was never in doubt. Willie Tuitama threw four touchdown passes, including #57 of his career, making him the all time leader in Arizona history.

Sadly though, the Sun Devils, who were ranked #1 going into their game against USC, collapsed when it mattered most. Wildcat fans really wanted to see the UofA ruin a perfect season, but not to be.

In Bowl predictions, the Wildcats are heading to the Insight.com bowl...again...

Arizona secured 3 recruits, 1 WR from Shaker Heights, 1 WR from Minnesota, and 1 MLB from Virginia. The Wildcats are going beyond the pipeline to pull in #1 one talent, with Old Spice Red Zone quality stars...

Arizona Lost 33-30 in 3OTs to Oregon. And I swear, I've never felt so much like the Computer wanted to win. Ken Dixon was simply unstoppable, he completed almost everypass, and when he didn't, he was running for first downs. Tuitama watched his recievers drop NINE PASSES! NINE!!!

This was a horrible, loss, one that I will not forget. Hopefully, next year, when Arizona has recruited a great class, they will run up the score on these jerks.

I hate the teams of the Pacific Northwest in this game. Never felt so cheated.

SEATTLE, WA - The Huskies beat the Wildcats, AGAIN. Though Isaiah Stanback was gone, that didn't stop the Huskies from torturing the 'Cats on the ground, and stifling their running game.

Fortunately it was a road game, and Arizona came back to destroy UCLA at home, and pull in another big recruit at MLB.

Arizona is in the top 25 with showdowns against #22 Oregon and the ultimate game, the end of season battle against #1 ASU. That game will be especially interesting as ASU must play #4 USC the week before.

The Huskies are officially most hated.

Los Angeles, CA - The Arizona Wildcats really thought they had a chance to upset the #4 Trojans this year. Tuitama was coming back from an injury, the team had crept into the top #10 among the media, and the Defense was outstanding.

That belief looked like more of a reality when John Booty fumbled on the opening drive, which was picked up by DT Yaniv Barnett and ran down to the one. Chris Henry took a toss and headed into the endzone to put Arizona up 7-0.

But the 'Cats could not keep up that momentum as Tuitama started throwing picks and Henry simply could not run anywhere.

Dwayne Jarrett, long a Wildcat killer continued his streak, pulling over 200 yards through the air.

The Wildcats remained in the top ten Media, but dropped down to #14 in the Coaches Poll. A loss to a #4 team is not heartbreaking for an up and coming squad, but many in Tucson thought this could be the year.

The previous game saw Arizona demolish Washington State 41-7 behind Chris Henry and back up QB Tyler Lyons.

The USC student body was excited, this group of girls collectively said "you guys, this is, like, so awesome. Let's get roofied!! whooooo"

The 'Cats will be getting official visits from all their top recruits, including the #1 Recruit from Shaker Heights..

Bill Walsh College Football '95

So I remember buying this game in San Diego in 1994 when I was still learning the ins and outs of college football. But I do remember one totally awesome thing about it - real schools, real helmets, real names. Of course there were only 32 teams in the games, but I remember the back of the box because it had this awesome outline of helmets. I remember looking it trying to figure out the difference between Notre Dame and Army. Eventually I realized that the schools were listed alphabetically.

I was instantly drawn to Michigan's helmet, Ohio State's, and Penn States, a real Big Ten mix. It took me about week before I could identify all helmets correctly, but once I didn, I was completely hooked on College Football. By the end of 1994, I was an addict and a fan of Nebraska.

Since Bill Walsh 95 had the option, and Madden didn't, I was transfixed and absolutely loved option teams. And Nebraska with Tommie Frazier and Lawrence Phillips, and Cory Schlessinger, where a pretty sick option team. Then over the years, you add Corell Buckhalter, Ahman Green, D'Angelo Evans, Joel Mackovicka, Scott Frost, Eric Crouch, Bobby Newcombe, some sweet players.

As for gameplay, I will pretty much say that the history of EA Football Games looks like this:
Bill Walsh - College Football USA 97 - same gameplay
NCAA Football 98 - Graphics bump and some gameplay fun
NCAA 99-2001 - Recruiting, awesome
NCAA 2002-2007 - PS2/Xbox generation, only really minor tweaks, nothing major, but some nice graphics.

Hopefully the Xbox 360 NEXT year will be a real step forward. But basically, I couldn't distinguish between any of these games if you just put me in the game, on the field.

#25 Arizona 29, #14 Cal 10

BERKELEY, CA - In one of the most thrilling games in recent memory, the Arizona Wildcats pulled off the upset and shocked the college football world.

Willie Tuitama went down with a strained shoulder on the first series and is expected to miss two weeks. Back Tyler Lyons came in and played with a steady hand, completing well timed passes , and setting the stage for Chris Henry who rattled off 130 yards on 22 carries to give the Wildcats the win.

The play of the game, and maybe a play that might define Cal's entire season, quarterback Joe Ayoob, dropped back into the endzone on 2nd and long from the 5 yard line. With the Wildcats defense bearing down on him, he threw a swing pass to his running back, also in the endzone. The Wildcats Darren Krogstad made the tackle and recorded Arizona' first safety of the season. He was subsequently flagged for excessive celebration, of course.

Arizona used the wing to vault to the top spot in five of their key recruiting targets, including the #1 WR from Shaker Heights, OH. There is a chance the Wildcats could pull in the top 2 WRs in the nation. If they did it would possibly open the door for Tuitama to set the Pac Ten passing record and really open up the Wildcats offense.

HOUSTON, TX - Arizona wins 56-7 over Houston, the team looked great on defense, and Xavier Henry kept scoring touchdowns. Tuitama was great, but sadness swept over the team when backup Quarterback Ryan Smith broke his ankle during mop up duty in the 3rd quarter. What kind of lesson has been learned? Play your starteres?

TUCSON, AZ - Arizona demolished University of New Mexico 49-7 in Tucson. This was all defense, who forced six, count em, SIX turnovers. A hatrick of interceptions and a hatrick of fumble recoveries sealed the deal.

"These guys are pussies," said Arizona star linebacker Xavier Kelley. This photo may confirm that, but #22 on the Lobos is named Amadeus and took this picture with the dog. I'm guessing, he's getting all kinds of Native American and hippie ass in New Mexico.

In wonderful news, Arizona, after beating up on three patsies, is now ranked #25 in the nation. The Kansas State strategy pays off well for the Wildcats, although this week's game against #14 Cal will be the first real test for a Wildcat team that looks good.

Bill Walsh College Football

So, I was thinking back to my first ever college football game. It was Bill Walsh College Football for the Genesis. What made this game amazing was that it had no official license whatsoever. I remember being so confused with BYU named "Provo, UT" and Penn State named "State College, PA" not to be confused with "College Station, TX" or "Columbus"...it definitely helped me learn the names of the towns that each college team was in.

The game was also awesome because it had this gigantic box, because they included this poster sized document with every team with every player on the roster. It was cool because it had historical teams, like 84 Provo, UT, who I was convinced was Quarterbacked by Steve Young. I was wrong. It was Robbie Bosco.

The game was like Madden, well, exactly like Madden. There wasn't much strategy back then, I pretty much ran three plays: Deep Outs, HB Dive, and HB toss. I did pretty well.

I also used Florida State a lot, and I was desperately looking for a team. I remember trying to decide which college team I was supposed to like, and being a COMPLETE Toronto homer, I had to find the school nearest to Toronto - Syracuse? Michigan? Notre Dame? I chose Michigan, but it wouldn't stick.

I did like the 49ers, so I also considered Stanford. There were a lot of tough choices, and College was still such a mystery.

Arizona kicks off in style, 70-3

TUCSON, AZ - The 2007 Arizona Wildcats kicked off the season with a huge victory over Southeastern Louisana, a school that is still 30% underwater.

Chris Henry set the Wildcats single game record with 315 rushing yards and 5 TDs. The Wildcats did everything right. And the team is looking good after a solid recruiting season.

This new season of NCAA has me thinking about how I'm able to finally use the spin move effecitvely. It's been a while since it's been relevant. The last time it was relevant was when I played College Football's National Championship on the Sega Genesis. No joke, the graphics in this game were awesome, so much better than Bill Walsh. But it had some serious issues with gameplay.

I'll never forget that I discovered that if you pick "off-tackle" and then bust a spin move right at the line of scrimmage, you can bust the run for a TD. I took the Colorado Buffaloes (I was so confused back then, 1994 was strange), and used Rashaan Salaam and ran for 1025 yards in one game. My trick was to take the QB (Kordell Stewart) and run all the way back to the 1 everytime I got the ball. Then I handed off to Salaam for the run. 1000 yards in a single game, hilarious.

The game was also awesome because you could press a button and take off your helment - AFTER EVERY PLAY - it didn't matter if it was a sack, and takedown from behind after a 95 yard pass. That helmet was coming off. You can still download this game with emulators, or you can buy it online for $0.98. This game was from a time when I loved College Football so much, and had no idea how American colleges actually operated...to be honest it's not too far off from what I expected.

Arizona humiliated in the Insight.com Bowl 56-17

PHOENIX, AZ - The Wildcats were helpless as Tyler Palko systematically destroyed the Arizona defense. The inability to establish a running game, and the poor pass blocking meant that Willie Tuitama never had a chance to lead these Wildcats to victory.

They look ahead to a fruitful recruiting season, where they already have a commit from the #1 OL prospect, and look to pull in a WR, and fill some key spots on defense.

There is a real rumbling that Antoine Cason might be considering a move to the NFL, in which case, it will be up to Coach Stoops to keep him in Red, White and Blue.

PHOENIX, AZ - The Wildcats are going to the Copper Bowl! Though it's been renamed the Insight.com bowl, no one around here recongizes the name change. The Wildcats played in the first ever Copper Bowl in 1989 and look to use this year as a springborad for future bowl success.

Sadly, they lost three key recruits before their scheduled visits, and have now only got a commit from the #1 Guard in the Nation. Losing out on WRs, OLBs, and a DT will hurt this team, but hopefully a strong bowl performance can help with the recruiting process.

In other notes, DE Marcus Smith and K Nick Polk were both named All-Americans, while Antoine Cason was named 1st team all Pac Ten. Nick Polk also won the Groza award for going 25-26 on kicks this year and perfect on extra points.

The University of Arizona Alumni Association will be holding a block of tickets for the game, and scheduling a number of activities around Phoenix including the desecration of ASU property and scoping out hoes on Mill ave.

#5 Cal shocked in Tucson 24-21 by the Wildcats

TUCSON, AZ - Was this the game that turns the tide for Arizona football? Is the Desert Swarm back? Today the University of Arizona Wildcats downed the #5 Cal Golden Bears at home. The game, viewed by EA as the #5 greatest game of all-time, is already being hailed by fans as one of the best they have ever seen.

As is the case in most upsets, Arizona won this game through ball control and clock management. Tuitama was only 8 of 14, but Chris Henry ran 28 times for 143 yards and a touchdown. His running, and luck (two fumbles, both recovered by Arizona) kept the Wildcats in this game until the very end.

The game looked to be in hand in the 3rd Quarter, when Willie Tuitama was sacked and fumbled, which Cal picked up and returned for a touchdown. The game got even closer when FB Brandon Lopez fumbled, and Cal scored on the ensuing drive. Then, a Tuitama pick late in the 4th Quarter gave Cal the chance to drive with 2:00 minutes left and only a 3 point defecit. They drove across the 50 and Arizona stadium was in a frenzy, when the usually composed Steve Levy threw a ball directly into the hands of Wildcats LB Ronnie Palmer. Some have already compared the throw to Neil O'Donnell's performance in the superbowl. Chris Henry then broke off enough first downs to wind down the clock and give the Wildcats the win.

"This victory is huge," said Tuitama, "we beat those jerks from Berkeley, now they can go back to their vegan shoes, soy burgers, anti-war protests, and gay marriages. I mean Tucson has all the same stuff, but you know, it's cooler here. Less stuck up girls, none of whom will be sleeping with Cal players, many who will sleep with Wildcats. WE'RE ALL GONNA GET LAID!"

Somewhere, Rodney Dangerfield is smiling, and hopefully using his magic to guide these Wildcats to a victories over Oregon and Arizona State.

Arizona beats up on WSU 48-21

PULLMAN, WA - Arizona easily handled Washington State today. No challenge, this one was over early. Tuitama passed like a hero, Henry ran well, the defense was extraordinary.

Ryan Leaf was in attendance, when asked to comment he said "meh, what are you gonna do? Their QB is Samoan."

He then groped a fat WSU cheerleader...to the applause of the crowd.

Arizona goes hard on the Beavers, wins 26-0

TUCSON, AZ - The Wildcats looked like the type of team that could end up in the Holiday Bowl on Saturday shutting out the Oregon State Beavers 26-0 in front of a near sellout crowd at Arizona Stadium.

The big story of the game was Willie Tuitama slowing his run of interceptions, throwing only 1 pick, albeit a sloppy one tossed during a drive to end the 2nd half. Amazing considering he had throw 17 picks in the past three games.

With a nudge up in run blocking, Chris Henry picked up 90 yards on 21 carries, and even Tuitama finally started using his legs and ran for 21 yards.

One of the more interesting moments in the game came when Arizona lined up for a punt return, but Oregon State went for it on fourth down, the defense scrambled to get into formation, and star WR Anthony Johnson found himself playing linebacker and picking off a pass. So to add to his amazing season, he'll now have an interception to add to his resume.

The Wildcats hope to run the table and finish 9-3, but with games against Cal and Arizona State, it won't be easy.

Six more INTs on the Pile, but UofA downs Stanford 29-26

PALO ALTO, CA - Willie Tuitama continues his march to the single season INT record, and Chris Henry continues his futility in the back field as Arizona struggles to a 29-26 Victory. The game was marred not only by interceptions, but Stanford players who magically lept six feet across the field to pull in errand passes, incredible.

Tuitama sets INT record but 'Cats win 38-7

PASADENA, CA - Willie Tuitama set the Arizona single game record by throwing five interceptions into the hands of the Bruins. Though normally one would ask why Coach Stoops kept throwing the ball, well, Tuitama also had 4 touchdown passes, going 14/19 for 281 yards. When you figure in the five picks, Tuitama has the amazing distinction of not having a single pass hit the ground.

Chris Henry stepped up with 108 yards on 23 carries, though he started out exceptionally slow, getting 12 yards on his first 10 carries.

But the main reason why the Wildcats won was the defense, a defense that didn't give up a first down until the fourth quarter. This team has really turned it around and looks to keep things strong going in to the second half of the season. With games against Cal and Arizona State, this team still has a shot of making some noise for the post-season.

Washington 35, Arizona 34 - a terrible loss at home

TUCSON AZ - Arizona's bad September continues with a heartbreaking 35-34 loss to Washington at home. Arizona is now 0-2 in the Pac Ten and has virtually no hope of winning the conference, but hopefully will rebound against a tough schedule that includes ranked teams Cal and Arizona State.

The loss can be traced directly to poor coaching. After Washington scored early following a Tuitama fumble, the Wildcats abandoned the run and attemped to go toe to toe with the Huskies in an old fashioned Pac Ten shoot out. By the end of the first half, Tuitama and Isaiah Stanback both had over 250 passing yards.

Stanback destroyed all defensive schemes by lining up 5 WRs and then rushing once all the DBs were downfield. It showed a real weakness on the part of the Wildcats.

This game could have been won, but the panic of the coaching staff put them into an arms race they could not keep up with, nor did they need to with Chris Henry and Xavier Smith sitting on he bench or in the backfield as blockers.

After the game, Chris Henry said he was glad he didn't have 20 carries, "I would haved like to help the team win, but I'm saving my energy for Caribana. I got a knife proofvest, my own plate for Roti, a special pair of goggles to scope out fat white beater chicks. It's going to be awesome."

When approached with this information, Tuitama replied: "gross."

USC 23, Arizona 10 - Inexperienced 'Cats come up short

TUCSON, AZ - In a game that many thought might be an upset, the #3 ranked Trojans rolled into Tucson and pulled out a 23-10 victory, in a game that was closer than the score would indicated.

Twice Willie Tuitama threw interceptions on what could have been game breaking drives, including one late in the 4th quarter. But before blame is laid upon the Sophmore QB, the real blame lies with the wide recievers. Drops on 3rd down and a clutch 4th down drop by Mike Thomas are unforgiveable, and simply the reason why Arizona lost this game. Also, Chris Henry was able to get nothing started against the USC defense, being held to under 40 yards on 17 carries.

When the Wildcats were clicking they looked good, good enough to beat the Trojan team, but there's always next year.

Of note, the new sliders are absolutely perfect - as Arizona has beat BYU, Blown out SFA, Lost to LSU, and narrowly lost to USC...I think these are keepers.

Arizona cruises in USC Warm up 56-7

TUCSON, AZ - The Wildcats crushed Stephen F Austin tonight 56-7, though the game stayed close for the majority of the first quarter. By the middle of the second, this game was all 'Cats.

Willie Tuitama tossed pass after pass to Anthony Johnson, his main target and star reciever this season, a surprise since many thought Syndric Steptoe to be the #1.

"They played a good game, you know, considering," Tuitama said after the game. When asked what he meant by 'considering' he replied: "they are still dealing with the hurricane, and we send our prayers out to all victims of Katrina."

When he was informed that SFA State U was located in Nacogdoches, TX, Tuitama said "well, then let those bastards go back to Nacho texas, they really aren't that good."

The Wildcats (2-1) are looking tuned up for the matchup against #3 Ranked USC.

LSU 21, Arizona 14

BATON ROUGE, LA - To call this defeat crushing would be an understatement. The UofA defense played their hearts out, only to have it taken away by silly turnovers and lacklustre rushing.

The LSU Tigers utilized their tight end and fullback, part of what some fans are calling the "white army," since both player are caucasian.

"It's about time we started seeing some of our own kind scoring touchdowns," said Billy Valentin, an LSU fan and PhD candidate, "take back the south."

In spite of the rampant racism among the LSU elites, the game was incredible, with Arizona attempting to drive for the game tying touchdown with 2:00 minutes left, but Willie Tuitama's second interception of the day, on the goal line, crushed all hope for the Wildcats. LSU was ranked #4 going into the game, and is sure to maintain that after this victory.

A Wildcat Offensive Explosion - Arizona 55, BYU 28

TUCSON AZ - The Arizona Wildcats said hello to the 2006 season in style with a 55-28 victory in a game where the score, in spite of the lopsided score, is closer than the game actually was.

Willie Tuitama started the game by completing 5 straight passes, including a touchdown pass to TE Travis Bell. After forcing a BYU punt on the following offensive series, Chris Henry scrambled 76 yards for a long rushing touchdown.

By the end of the first half, Henry had gone over 100 yards, Tuitama had passed for over 300 and the two were done for the day. Subs played the rest of the game as Arizona cruised to an easy victory. Freshman Xavier Smith ran for over 100 yards in his first game, and Adam Austin filled in admirably at QB, but understandly threw very few passes.

Kicker Nick Folk injured his arm, but should be fine for Stephen F. Austin, and definitely for LSU.

BYU's QB John Beck passed on virtually every down, and was sacked twice, threw three interceptions and was hurried 14 times. If BYU cannot get their rushing game on track, this will be a long season for the Cougars.

The 1-0 Wildcats will cruise through the second stage of their non-conference schedule when they square off against I-AA Stephen F. Austin. But the following week they will see how their luck stands up when they travel to #5 LSU next week, this game looks like it will probably be the first loss for the 'Cats. The news doesn't get any better as they face the reigning Pac Ten champs in USC.

The New Season Begins

After an impressive season that saw the Wildcats head to the Holiday Bowl, they are back to give it another run, except this time with roster names and a plan for the future.

The new season will be played on All-America, 5 Minute Quarters, and using Myles's sliders with CPU runningback and passing abilities bumped up by about ten points each.

SAN DIEGO, CA - The Arizona Wildcats dropped the Holiday Bowl 10-0 to the #9 Texas Longhorns, in a game that wasn't nearly as close as the score indicated.

Willie Tuitama continued to have problems with consistency, throwing four picks, all of them avoidable. As a young quarterback, he will have to take this game as a learning experience.

Some other news - Notre Dame won the National Title and Brady Quinn won the Heisman. Also of note, the addition of a Pro Action Replay means that I can download rosters - full ones, into the game, and will be starting a NEW dynasty tomorrow after work..nervous...

Holiday Bowl Bound

SAN DIEGO, CA - The Arizona Wildcats are heading back to the Holiday Bowl! They were last there in 1998 when they beat Nebraska 23-20 in a classic matchup. This year they will be facing the reigning national champions in the Texas Longhorns.

The Holiday Bowl is probably the best place for the rejuvenated Wildcats as the 2nd largest alumni association (after Phoenix) is located in Southern California, and they are almost guaranteed to sell it out.

In other Wildcat news, Nick Polk won the Groza award as the nation's top kicker, and T Tanner Bell won the award for the top Offensive lineman.

Though the Wildcats would have loved a trip to the Rose Bowl to face the Buckeyes, this may not have been their year. Still a share of the Pac Ten title and some memorable games made this season one of the best in Arizona history.

Wildcats Run out of Miracles, lose to ASU 38-35 (OT)

(Tucson, AZ) - The Wildcats came up just a little short in the annual Territorial Cup, as Arizona State eeked out a 38-35 win. But this time it wasn't just for that old cup, it was for the Pac Ten, it was for the Rose Bowl, it was for national respect, and possibly Arizona recruits.

To say the Wildcats are crushed would be an understatement, this was a team that nobody thought would go anywhere and the pushed the best of the Pac Ten to the brink. Sadly, the dream of bringing Arizona to their first Rose Bowl in school history will wait another year.

The game itself was one of the best in recent memory, EA Sports ranked it as the #2 game of all time after the UA-Cal matchup earlier this season.

Again the Wildcats struggled running the ball without Chris Henry, and Willie Tuitama was forced to pass, going 15/34 for 422 yards, 3 TDs and 5 interceptions. Simply put, he cannot carry that big a load this early in his career. His second touchdown pass of the day set the Arizona school record with 21, and eventually 22 TDs on the season.

Also of note, Anthony Johnson hauled in eight catches for 305 yards, a school record at Arizona.

It remains to be seen where the Wildcats will go bowling, some say they might get the at large bid for the Fiesta Bowl, but only time will tell.

Arizona beats Oregon, Loses Henry

(Eugene, OR) - The Arizona Wildcats continued their miraculous romp through the Pac Ten with a narrow victory over last place Oregon. The 1-9 Ducks were facing the 9-1 Wildcats in game that shouldn't have been this close, but then again, playing at Oregon is never an easy task, no matter how bad the Ducks are.

The Wildcats continued their string of turnovers as they fumbled their way to a half time deficit of 10 points. The team looked to rally with a strong drive in the third quarter that led to a touchdown, but that momentum was quickly wiped out by an Oregon kickoff return touchdown. The team looked decimated, but the fourth quarter would truly test this team, and they answered.

Willie Tuitama, again forced to rely on his arm, passed for 349 yards and 2 TDs, then again, he had no choice. Chris Henry went down in the second quarter with a torn abdominal muscle that will keep him sidelined for seven weeks, probably just long enough to keep him out of whichever bowl Arizona goes to.

Up next for the 'Cats is the Territorial Cup against Arizona State. All year, this has been marked on the calendar, except this time, a victory will give Arizona the outright Pac Ten title and send them to their first ever Rose Bowl. If they lose, they will share the title with ASU, and the winner of the USC/UCLA game, and since ASU will have the head to head, the Sun Devils will be headed to the Rose Bowl as Pac Ten Champions.

This is perhaps the most important Territorial Cup ever, as both teams are ranked, and the winner will head to a BCS bowl.

The Miracle in the Desert, Arizona 23, Cal 20

Tucson, AZ - This one will go down in College Football history, right up there with Doug Flutie and Kordell Stewart as one of the greatest hail mary endings in college history. The Arizona Wildcats kept their improbable run through the Pac Ten alive with an incredible 23-20 victory in the dying seconds.

The entire game had been a struggle for the Wildcats as they trailed for all of the first half and most of the second half. Drive killing fumbles by Chris Henry and Anthony Johnson really put the 'Cats at a disadvantage. But the defense stayed strong and the team never gave up, eventually scoring on a beautiful touchdown run by Chris Henry where he shed a tackler and glided into the far side of the end zone. Leading 17-13 with 2:00 minutes left, Arizona punted to California and downed the ball on the five.

California Senior QB Steve Levy led a miracle drive with passes to his tight ends that seemed so easy it was almost unfair. Eventually driving down to the Arizona 14, he faced a 4th and 10 with :30 seconds on the clock. He floated a little pass to the right side of the endzone, past the outstretch arms of Wilrey Fontenot and into the hands of superstar running back Marshawn Lynch for the touch down. Cal had taken a 20-17 lead with only 28 seconds on the clock. This one was in the bag.

Getting the ball at his own 26, Willie Tuitama could only hope to get close enough to attempt a long field goal and maybe send it to over time. He made a perfect bullet pass to his tight end for 25 yards, bringing the ball to the Arizona 45. With one time out left, the plan was to throw long, hopefully catch it, call a timeout and kick the field goal.

Tuitama dropped back, rolled to his right, and then unleashed a bomb to Anthony Johnson who made a miracle catch, then broke a tackle and sprinted the length of the field as time expired for the game winning touchdown.

This was the second game in a row that Tuitama controlled with his arm, passing for 344 yards on 14 of 23 passes with two touchdowns. Henry failed to continue his streak of 100 yard games as he scrambled for 72 yards on 16 carries. But the real story was the recieving duo of Anthony Johnson and Mike Thomas who both hauled in six catches for 165 and 142 yards respectively. The star reciever, Syndric Steptoe was held to just one catch, but his decoy duties opened up the game for the rest of the team.

Cal, though unranked, is still one of the top teams in the Pac Ten, who lost a few games because of bad luck this year, but they will be back next year. But for now, this conference seems to be destined for an Arizona-Arizona State Matchup over the Thanksgiving holiday to determine the champion.

Arizona survies 31-28 scare in Pullman

Pullman, WA - The Arizona Wildcats, who had been cruising through a weak Pac Ten schedule survived a massive scare from the lowly Washington State Cougars on Saturday. The 'Cats pulled out a victory in which their defense had to hold on right until the final seconds.

It was clear in the first quarter that this was going to be a wild game, as Arizona's first punt was dropped by Washington State's Lorenzo Bursey, and then promptly picked up and returned for a touchdown by Michael Bumpus.

Throughout the game the Cougars traded interceptions for Chris Henry fumbles as the two teams battled back and fourth in the second half. Arizona's defense, as always, was staunch against the run, but struggle to stop the long passing attack of Alex Brink and his corps of Cougar recievers, most notably Jason Hill who torched the Wildcats for 155 yards on 8 receptions.

On the Arizona side of the ball, Henry continued his heavy workload, taking 23 carries for 127 yards, and Brandon Lopez continues to score low yardage touchdowns as he grabbed one score on four carries for five yards.

But the real story here might be the emergence (finally) of Willie Tuitama as a true quarterback. He played magnificently today going 15 of 17 for 263 yards and 3 TDs, and most incredibly, no picks. This might be a sign that the Wildcats are starting to shift away from the Big Ten style of play and moving more towards a truly Pac Ten style of football.

The verbal commitment of Preston Brooks, the #12 WR out of Nacogdoches, TX might be a sign of the Wildcats moving towards a more open, pass friendly attack that will only improve as Tuitama moves into his Junior year.

Arizona 17, Oregon State 10 - "The Greatest Game of All Time"

TUCSON, AZ - The Arizona Wildcats and Oregon State Beavers played "The Greatest Game of All Time" according to EA Sports on Saturday. The game came down to the wire, but great defense and a solid running game saved the day for Arizona.

The entire game was a see saw battle with interceptions and fumbles really hampering both squads. Willie Tuitama was not at his best, throwing 3 interceptions and no touchdown passes, including interception in the endzone. However, Tuitama's picks were nothing compared to Oregon State's Matt Moore, who drove the Beavers the length of the field in the final minute and a half, only to be intercepted in the endzone.

On the crucial third and goal, he floated a pass to his left towards a reciever who appeared to be open. But Antoine Cason, the All American corner back, lept up grabbed the ball and came down with the win.

The victory keeps Arizona as the only Pac Ten team without a conference loss, and their 6-1 record is good enough for #24 in the nation, the first time Arizona has tasted the top 25 since 1999. With a weak Pac Ten, save for Arizona State, these Wildcats look to content for the Pac Ten title and a possible bid in the Rose Bowl.

38-7 Arizona smokes Stanford

PALO ALTO, CA - Arizona continues to find success with their running game, strong defense, and controlled passing attack as they breeze past the Stanford Cardinal in a 38-7 victory.

Stanford moved the ball easily in their first series, but inexplicably they ran a wild QB reverse pass play that actually passed the ball backwards and over the head of the Quarterback, and thus yielding a fumble that Arizona recovered at the Stanford 20. They easily pushed the ball forward and into the end zone. Remarkably Stanford ran the same play in the 3rd quarter...with the same result. One has to question the Stanford coaching philosophy to take such risks when the game is close.

Chris Henry racked up an impressive 121 yards on 26 carries with 2 TDs, he is now 20 carries ahead of second place as the Pac Ten's top work horse. But before Arizona fans start to worry about him burning out, Xavier smith carred 14 times for 96 yards in the same game and seems poised for greatest. Alumni have been grumbling about the possibility of him transferring if he doesn't get more carries.

"I have no interest in transferring from Arizona," Smith said after the game. "Where am I going to go? Arizona State? Are you kidding me? UCLA? With all those jerks? no way."

Tuitama was 11 for 17 for 140 yards with a touchdown pass, again proving that he does not have to take over a game for Arizona to succeed.

With Oregon State and Cal having dropped out of the Top 25, Arizona's sole remaining ranked opponent is Arizona State. With the Wildcats sitting at 6-1 and 4-0 in the Pac Ten, the chances are that the Territorial Cup could decide the Pac Ten, and that all important BCS bid, which could be a huge factor in landing a big recruiting class.

23-3 Arizona over UCLA

(Pasedena, CA) - The Arizona Wildcats have been on a tear since their loss to LSU. With victories over USC and Washington, they looked to keep it going against slumping UCLA.

UCLA came out strong and drove the ball all the way down to the Arizona 10 yard line. But that tough as nails Arizona defense forced a field goal attempt, which they blocked for their second blocked kick of the season, the first being a blocked extra point against BYU in the season opener.

Willie Tuitama continued in his job as a manager QB not a star. He passed 11 times for 68 yards, while Chris Henry returned to form with 120 yards on 25 carries. Xavier Smith, a star in the making, carried 10 times for sixty yards.

The Wildcats are now 5-1 and starting to get a little bit of publicity as they recieved 10 votes for the top 25, though still unranked, if they keep up these victories, they could find themselves creeping up the national ladder.

This team has made a commitment to the run and stingy defense. They are bringing Big Ten football to the west coast, and it's giving the Pac Ten fits.

With games coming up against Ranked Oregon State (#25), Cal (#18), and Arizona State (#17), this team will be tested.

34-7 Arizona over the Woeful Huskies

Coming off a huge upset of USC, the thoughts in the media were that this Arizona team would probably experience a comedown and lose to the Huskies.

Well, that wasn't the case as Arizona cruised to a 34-7 before a solid crowd at Arizona Stadium.

Brandon Lopez, the most dependable back on the team, ran for 4 TDs on 6 carries and eight yards. The Wildcats seemed to find themselves on the goal line in each quarter, and Lopez was the man to put it in the end zone.

Running back Chris Henry showed some real signs of slowing down after putting on a show the past few weeks. His sub Xavier Smith, really did great in clean up duty.

Tuitama didn't have the biggest game, but it looks like for the Wildcats to win, he'll have to minimize mistakes and keep handing off.

Arizona 31, USC 0 - Perhaps the greatest upset of our time

So I already played UofA v. USC earlier today and got blown out by 3 TDs, I didn't save right away because I thought I was going to play another game against Washington...well, I started goofing around looking at my recruits, ESPN Magazine covers, and turned it off.

When I turned it back on, I saw that I had not played USC, "oh great, I get to be blown out twice in one day," how wrong I was.

I took some advice from Myles who said - don't make crazy throws, take the sack, don't go for long bombs...so I reeled in my Al Davis style offense and decided to play the most focused game of NCAA in my entire life.

I started by noticing the formations that USC was picking, so that I didn't try to defend a 4 WR set with a 4-3. That definitely worked, as the Trojans were held to just 116 passing yads, 14/30 with FOUR picks (all picks were on terrible throws).

With the passing situation settled, I moved on to my rushing game, in hopes of controlling the clock and possibly keeping the game close for as long as I could, I ran. Chris Henry was a hero, going for over 120 yards on 27 carries, all while not reaching the endzone, but his Fullback, Brandon Lopez tasted paydirt...

Passingwise, Tuitama had been really struggling with accuracy in the loss to LSU, but the strong ground game and the use of short passes really helped out a lot, he finished the game with a rating of 199.3, 14 of 20 for 190 yards adn 3 TD passes.

USC ended up benching Booty and putting in Freshman Mark Sanchez in the 4th quarter.

This is one of the best days in Arizona Football History - let's hope it carries over into the Washington game, and the rest of Pac Ten play.
